Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Eastham Library was established in 1973 to raise funds to supplement material, programs, and services provided through the regular library budget. The Friends work closely with library trustees and staff in order to assess current and future needs.

Our library is a vital resource for the Eastham community. The staff of professional librarians and a large group of enthusiastic volunteers make it a friendly, welcoming place for both residents and summer visitors. The Friends are committed to ensuring a bright future for the library. Join the Friends by completing this membership form.

Join with others who love books and the library as you do and SHARE in our vision for the Eastham Library’s future.

The Friends Board meets the first Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. at the library. We welcome visitors and are actively looking for new volunteers. If you’re interested, come to a meeting & introduce yourself. We’d love to have you.

The Friends has a wonderful new space in which to offer its ongoing sales of books, DVDs and CDs. The original 1897 VIS library (Village Improvement Society) has been renovated with reclaimed southern yellow pine flooring, bead board paneling and custom shelving. The Friends chose and purchased beautiful and comfortable “Living Room” furniture, which welcomes small groups as well as patrons looking to browse the shelves for book bargains.

WE WELCOME GENTLY USED DONATIONS FOR OUR SALE SPACE … and value new fiction (published within the last 5 years) and non fiction, all in good condition. Children’s books, soft cover “trade” paperbacks and small paperbacks, DVDs, CDs and Audio books also accepted. No text books or similar one-topic manuals, please. Look at it this way, please don’t bring old, or “over used” books. In other words if it’s something you wouldn’t consider buying, then probably it’s not right for the Friends Book Sale.
