With high temperatures forecast for Thursday through Saturday, the Eastham Emergency Management Team will be opening a Cooling Center to provide residents with a safe, air-conditioned space to escape the heat.
The Cooling Center will be open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the following locations:
- Thursday: Eastham Senior Center
- Friday: Eastham Library
- Saturday: Eastham Library
As many residents and visitors head to the beach to celebrate the Fourth of July, remember to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and take breaks from the sun. If the heat becomes too much, our Cooling Centers are available as a comfortable place to cool down before or after your holiday festivities this long weekend.
Transportation to the Cooling Centers is available through the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA). Residents needing transportation may request a ride by calling 508-385-1430 and selecting Option 2.
The Eastham Emergency Management Team also encourages residents to:
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
- Limit time outdoors during the hottest part of the day.
- Check on older adults, neighbors, and others who may be especially vulnerable to extreme heat.
The Town encourages anyone in need of relief from the heat to make use of the Cooling Centers during operating hours. Have a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July and remember that we’re here if you need a place to cool off.
